Industrial processes are becoming increasingly complex, generating large amounts of sensor data while facing growing demands for energy efficiency, sustainability, and product quality. Although digitalization has improved data availability, transforming this data into actionable knowledge for process optimization remains a major challenge.
The Cognergy project addresses these challenges by combining physics-based modeling, data-driven modeling, digital twins, reinforcement learning, and interpretable AI to help operators optimize complex industrial processes.
This workshop presents the project’s key results through two industrial use cases from cement milling and abrasive manufacturing. Participants will gain insights into physical process modeling, machine learning, reinforcement learning, causal analysis, and their practical implementation to improve the sustainability and efficiency of industrial production.
The workshop concludes with a discussion on future applications and opportunities for transferring these technologies to other industrial sectors.
